IDL 8.0 crashes vncserver sessions (RHEL Linux 5.0) [message #74674]

HI,
Just started working with IDL 8.0. I am on a RHEL 5.0 64bit system.
I'm running IDL sessions by connecting from a desktop to a server
running the GMOME desktop under "vncserver". The vncserver session
crashes at indeterminate points, leaving no trace of what went wrong.
My vnc sessions are otherwise very stable and I've not had this type
of problem with any other application.

Any suggestions, similar experience, how do I debug/fix?
