Dear IDL-users,

how can one redirect the output of the help command to a string
variable or file? - We need access to the name of a structure
during run time.

I don't know how to redirect help output, but in your case you can use the
function TAG_NAMES(struct_expression) to get the names of struct elements.

P.S. I use pv-wave, but TAG_NAMES should also be available in IDL.
