Folks,
Many, many changes to Coyote Graphics programs over the weekend
and into today.
http://www.idlcoyote.com/programs/coyoteprograms.zip
Here are the highlights.
First, all vestiges of EUROPEAN are gone from Coyote Library
routines (except what was required to maintain backward
compatibility). Now you can use the more sensible (I've
had a LONG talk with Coyote about this!) METRIC keyword
to set metric units on PostScript configuration routines.
Unfortunately, Andrew, in a very close vote (number of visitors
to my web page) US interests prevailed and inches are still
the default for resizeable graphics windows. BUT, this is
easily fixed for everyone outside of Myanmar who prefers
metric units:
IDL> FSC_Window_Set_Defaults, PS_METRIC=1
If you put that in your start-up file, ALL your windows
will be metric on A4 paper. :-)
I've changed a number of keyword names to better reflect
their purpose and role in the program. I decided to bite
the bullet now and do it before it gets uncomfortable to
do it. (EUROPEAN, sheesh! Now *there's* a bad idea!)
What else? Minor bug fixes to TVImage and FSC_Window.
I'm nearly finished with the chapter that explains all the
details of how to use what I've started to call, at first
pretentiously, and now more seriously, after I've seen the power
of it, the Coyote Graphics System.
I'm looking for some chapter reviewers of this chapter only.
I'm afraid I am looking for a quick turn-around on this, but
if you have the time, and you are interested, let me know ASAP.
I'll get it to you the minute I'm finished with it. Maybe still
today, but probably tomorrow. I've already worked about 12 hours
and I am running out of gas.
The book covers are essentially done. (One damn comma missing, of
course!) But if all goes well in the next few days, we might be
able to begin pre-sales by the end of the week.
Anyway, lots of you are helping, and I just want to tell you
again how much I appreciate it. :-)
Cheers,
David
