Hi

I run in some problems on a linux ubunutu system which should also
operate without any network activities.

ifconfig finds the network interface where the license is bound to.

but the lmgrd does not start correctly. "Vendor daemon can't talk to lmgrd"

It looks like there are no packets send so that explains why it did not
talk. But why?

If I start the system with a lan connection it works in most cases.

Any ideas?

Reimar

so that can be stopped by
chattr +i /etc/hosts

then no one can alter that file until root changes it back by -i

So this is a NetworkManager issue then. I dropped network manager in favor of
Wicd, and can keep my IDL sessions across networks.

update

it works if the first line in /etc/hosts defines localhost

but NetworkManager adds on each attempt a line on top with the current
ip address.

Without network the license manager didn't start again

Lets say it in other words if I start my idl session with wifi and
disconnect it then my idl session ends too.

Well I don't think it is. Because it is not the fault of NetworkManager
that other software requires localhost defined in first line of hosts
file. There is not any hint about that in the RFC for hosts file.
