Hi folks,

if you are interested into terrain visulauisations / analysis using
IDL/ENVI you might be interested into our sky-view factor code. It
estimates for each DEM pixel the solid angle of the visible sky. Thus
it can be effectively used as terrain visualization method (sky-view
factor is then a proxy for diffuse illumination; most visualization
methods originate from analytical hill-shading that is based on direct
illumination).

For more information take a look at our web site that contains also
the SAV files (PRO on request) or read the article explaining the
theoretical background on this topic.

This is the first version - we are still working on several details.
