I'm working on my talk about Coyote Graphics for next
week, and I just put in a slide explaining how most of
the people I know still use the IDL start-up file their
graduate student advisor gave them in the mid-1980s. :-)

Cheers,

David

P.S. The more I think about it, the more I think a retro
book about IDL computing in the last half of the 20th
century would have an enormous financial up-side. ;-)

Hmmm. I always hold down the apple key and click, not the control key.

And if you really using the version of norm.pro circa 1987 for IUE data analysis, you should probably update to Don Lindler's spectral data analysis tools available at http://archive.stsci.edu/fuse/analysis/idl_tools.html
(The updated version of norm.pro is called line_norm.pro). --Wayne

Hi David,

if you need it, I still have my HASP key that came with IDL 3.0. It
should still work, though I do not have a printer port anymore. Have
fun writing the history book. I will read it.
