OK, so I find the New Repository button and try to attach
myself to the code repository. But I get an error, presumably
because I don't have a SVN connector library installed. I
guess this must be what I failed to install before, when
I didn't understand what to choose and canceled out of
the dialog.
I can't find that dialog again, so I don't know how
to choose one of the options. Well, and even if I did
choose, given my luck today, it's not going to be the
right choice! Do you have an suggestions for what the
right choice should be? I'm on Windows 7, 64-bit, running
Subversion 1.6.16 according to my TortoiseSVN information.
Thanks,
David

Oh, hang on. I just tried it again, and now I am asked if
I want to switch to the Repository Viewer perspective.
OK, no directions here either, but maybe I can figure
this out. I'll let you know.
Cheers,

Have you seen the Princess Bride? I'm not sure you are
using the word "extensive" properly. I think you mean "any". :-)

OK, so I choose "Subversion. It asks me if I want to "install"
something or other and I say "Yes". It gives me a list of things
I *could* install, but no help making a choice. I cancel out of that,
so I can think a little bit and do some research. Now, when I do
Window->Source Control Tools -> Subversion nothing whatsoever
happens! :-(
What do I do now?
Cheers,
David

Hi David,
Yes, that's correct. IDL 8.1 ships with plugins for CVS, Git,
Perforce, and Subversion. We ran out of time to do extensive
documentation for these. We are currently working on some
instructional videos, but it will be a while.
In the meantime, if you go into the Workbench, under Window->Source
Control Tools, you can pick the tool you are interested in. It will
then install all of the required plugins. When you restart the
Workbench, you will have access to all of the "views" appropriate to
that SCM tool. Look under Window->Show View->Other... to see the list
of available views for your SCM.
Here are some links that might help in using the plugins:
http://www.eclipse.org/eclipse/platform-cvs/
http://www.eclipse.org/egit/
http://www.perforce.com/perforce/products/p4eclipse.html
http://www.eclipse.org/subversive/
Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Chris

Is this just a typo or why is mercurial missing?
It definitly works as you can see at
https://idlsource.fz-juelich.de/admin/idlde.html
In 8.0 I have had to tweak the configuration manually.

OK, unchecking Subversion and then restarting (essential!) the
Workbench worked. I then got to the connector dialog again. Hurray!

Well, reading through them, it didn't seem I would need ALL of
them. So, following the directions in the link, I selected
SVNKit 1.3.0 pure JAVA for all OS, and JavaHL 1.6.0 for
Win32 binaries. That seemed to cover my bases pretty well.
> Once you properly install the connectors then Subversive should work.
Alas, once I selected the connectors and hit the Install
button, I get an error dialog telling me "The operation
cannot be completed. See the details." The "details"
consist of this message: "Cannot complete the install
because one or more required items could not be found."
The Dialog doesn't allow me to go forward or backward
(choices grayed out), so all I can do it Cancel.
> For more info see the documentation here: http://www.eclipse.org/subversive/documentation/index.php
The directions do not appear to jive with my version
of Eclipse. Menu items, etc. are just nowhere to be
found. :-(
Still hosed, I guess. Awaiting further instructions.
Cheers,
David
