Has anybody written a auto correlation or cross correlation function
which is also fast

A paper on how to do *normalized* cross-correlation
in the frequency domain in Vision Interface 95 (the
standard convolution theorem gives you un-normalized correlation).
The frequency domain method was found to be 5-15x faster
than spatial domain normalized correlation, depending on the
image size.
