A few weeks ago I reported that the IDL installer would crash
when attempting to install on a new iMac running OS X 10.7.
It appears that the culprit was the lack of a Java runtime in
the default 10.7 installation. Apple is no longer including
Java with the OS; it must be downloaded and installed separately.
Some other installers also failed, but were helpful enough
to complain about the lack of Java (thank you Matlab).
So if you are having installation problems with 10.7, make
sure that you have Java installed.
