Which Hi-Res Coastline Map does IDL Use? Other good maps?

I have noticed that the hi-res world coastline map data base used
by IDL seems to be a lot better than the WDBII-based stuff I have
used (and also than PV-Wave's hi-res maps, as of version 6.01).
Which map data base is it?

(I was really wondering if it is a proprietary data base, or
whether it is freely available for non-IDL applications.)

Are there any even better (higher resolution, more accurate, etc.)
FREE hi-res world coastline map databases available?
