Folks,
Processing modern dance memories today puts me in
mind of the most important classes in a science
curriculum. In those long-ago undergraduate days
it was a requirement of the University that you
had to have a least one class in the Physical
Education department.
The modern dance studio was very near to the
Physics building, and you didn't have to be
a genius to recognize that Principles of
Modern Dance was going to be a hell of a lot
better class than Principles of Modern American
Football!
I enrolled, and was one of just three guys
in a class of 24. One of the guys was probably
gay, although in those days no one talked about
anything like that. The other guy was in the
class for the same general reason I was: WOMEN,
lithe, long-legged women!
I'm not sure Modern Dance was the most important
class I took in my physics education. But, nearly
40 years later, it is still the most memorable! ;-)
Cheers,
David
P.S. Let's just say that any Physics major that passes
up a chance to take a Modern Dance class is *really*
missing out on a *great* opportunity to improve his
education!
