Anyone know the status of the RedHat/IDL problem that prevents hardware graphics rendering (thus forcing me to use software rendering)? On my machines it appears after two calls to plot().
IDL> a = plot(indgen(10))
% Loaded DLM: XML.
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x5b
IDL> a = plot(indgen(10))
Segmentation fault
IDL> print,!version
{ x86 linux unix linux 8.1 Mar 9 2011 32 64}
cat /etc/redhat-release
Scientific Linux SL release 5.7 (Boron)
There is a RedHat bug report (
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=469047 )
dating back to October 2008 about IDL and Matlab problems with hardware rendering. It looks like my Redhat version is from July 2011. Any chance that updating my RedHat version (or to IDL8.2) would help? Thanks, --Wayne
