This is your opportunity to provide feedback on the next version of
IDL before its final release. I am looking for customers who are
interested in testing a technical preview release of IDL 8.2. The test
period is scheduled to begin the week of November 14 and continue into
January.

If you are interested, please click Reply to Author and send me an
email with your contact information, and computer(s) and operating
system(s) version information.

Thank you,

Bill Okubo
IDL Product Manager

Hi,
Is there a particular issue that you are running into with negative indices? If it is with the WHERE function, you could try using the new /NULL keyword, to avoid accidentally changing the wrong (i.e. last) element.
Or is it a different issue?

Dear Bill,

I'm looking forward to use the beta version on Win7_64 & VirtualXP_32SP3 on the same laptop hoping the floating license can reach the free VirtualPC on win7 in the future or beta license for the virtualPC.

Will work on COM/ActiveX/DLL with IDL, ObjectGraphics and older code from my first projects IDL 5.3 from 2001 manly large file based.

Hi just saw your reply now.

It *is* a where issue, but it's related to legacy code that was written badly. It does not always check for -1s. If it crashes under V7 and below, then I can go see what's going on. If it keeps on going, as in v8, then things are quite a bit harder...

Thanks,
G
