Folks,

I have added the following articles to the IDL Programming
Web Page during January. If any of these are of interest to
you, please have a look.

If your favorite tip is not on the page, please contact me
and I will see what I can do about adding it.

------------------------------------------------------------ ---

Image Processing Tips

How do I build a frequency domain filter for my image?

Graphics Display Tips (2D)

How do I turn axis labelling off?
How do I add a second, logarithmic axis to my plot?
Why don't graphics windows resize smoothly on my NT machine?
How do I leave room for a title when plotting multiple plots?

Graphics Display Tips (3D)

How can I grid 3D spherical data to view with SLICER?
How can I draw a surface plot with axes through the origin?

File I/O Tips

How can I read a file that has a header and 3 columns of data?

String Processing Tips

How can I include a changing numerical value in a string?

Miscellaneous Tips

How can I convert WHERE output to image subscripts?
How can I create an angstrom symbol in IDL?

------------------------------------------------------------ ---

In addition, the IDL programs PS_FORM and COLORBAR were updated.
Phil Williams has been serving as my offical program debugger
these days. :-) He found several bugs in PS_FORM, which I fixed.
If you haven't downloaded a recent copy of PS_FORM, I recommend
you do so.

I added RIGHT and TOP keywords to the COLORBAR program, so
you can put the annotation wherever you like now.

Also, Ronn Kling, an IDL programmer and consultant, just
contacted me about offering an IDL program that displays
satellite orbits on a map. He is downloading the file
today. I should have it available this weekend.

Cheers!

David
