I would strongly advise against trying to run an IDL code through GDL.
I tried it once and it's a nightmare. It turns out that something that
is 95% compatible in theory is 100% incompatible in practice. If a
code was developed from scratch in GDL it might be a different story,
but trying to run IDL code will cause you no end of grief.

Have you checked that stregex(Header...) works? I would think it's more likely the problem...
