Hello Dick,
Before moving to canada, I tried to search company who were working with IDL. I found somes in BC :
http://www.aslenv.com
http://www.terraremote.com (Maybe)

I don't know if this can help.

After three month in Montréal I'm still looking forward to find a private company working with IDL or ENVI ... but it seems really difficult.

Vincent

It may turn out that none of that work will be continued, so I find myself suddenly very available for new business!

Hi Vincent,

Thank you for the possible contacts you mention. I'm sorry that I don't know of any other companies out east who use IDL. I wish you the best with your search as well.

For anyone reading here who may be interested, I got clearance to add some more project descriptions to my portfolio.

Also, I learned that the Oxford American Dictionary recently named "GIF" (as a verb, referring to creating an animated GIF as a short video, usually as a loop) as word-of-the-year for 2012, noting everything from the London Olympics to the US presidential election have been "giffed".

So, to get with what the cool kids are doing (using 25-year-old file format), I quickly did up my little business logo as an animated GIF using IDL, now on my pages at www.d-jackson.com :-). My attention was brought to this by a 90%-serious interview I heard on CBC radio about the resurgence of the GIF after 25 years (http://www.cbc.ca/q/blog/2012/11/28/the-art-of-the-gif/).

Cheers,
-Dick
