To each their own. I had a well-configured emacs back in the day, all emacs-lisp inherited from knowledgeable people long before I had even heard of Lisp. Then a series of backward-incompatible changes happened to emacs, and after I had to rebuild my config from scratch (and not understanding an iota of what happened) for the third time, I decided emacs took too much time away from my coursework. I went to vi and never looked back. At least it can never be configured so far that you have no idea where you are.

... and even my emacs-wielding colleagues found BP to be useful.

Have you taught your emacs to find the correct inherited method in a deep and branched inheritance tree?

Hi David,

Interesting... I don't know anyone who *does* use the workbench!

(I don't use Emacs, either, but another text editor.)

I didn't realize there *were* still people not using the Workbench or
EMACS. I should have guessed the cold, frozen North in Tromso! Still
dark there, this time of year? ;-)

Cheers,

David

P.S. To tell you the truth, I think there are still people not using
EMACS or the Workbench in my own lab. But, I prefer not to know about
it. :-(
