Hi all,
Two things happened recently that have had me offline as far as IDL goes.
I upgraded my Mac to OS X 10.8, which broke my ancient Usenet reader
(MTNewsWatcher). I finally found time to get a new news reader and am
trying to catch up on comp.lang.idl-pvwave. (BTW, I'm using Unison
from Panic. It seems OK so far.)
Second, the university is making it difficult to maintain a customized
website on campus by blocking access through the campus firewall to any
web servers that are not secure. I can understand why they want to do
this, but they don't really offer a good alternative, and I don't want
to have to maintain a web server. So, idl.tamu.edu is no longer
accessible from outside the tamu.edu domain.
I decided to move my IDL content to a commercial web hosting service.
This also allows me to directly link to places where you can buy my IDL
book, which university rules prohibit. You can find it at
learnidl.com
I have moved most of the content over from the old website, and I will
see if I can get a redirect set up so that anyone looking for
idl.tamu.edu will get pointed in the right direction.
There are still a few things I need to move to the new website,
including the Mac related content. If you find any errors or typos,
please let me know.
Thanks, and it's good to be back in touch.
Cheers, Ken
