It is worth mentioning again that RSI sells copies of it's training
manuals, such as "Learning IDL". Give them a call at (303) 786-9900.
I have never found any other 3rd party books written about IDL.
Perhaps the user base isn't large enough to make it profitable.
Certainly there are lots of books abut Mathematica and Matlab.
I think a book about IDL - along the lines of the "Underground Guide"
titles from Addison Wesley - would be very useful. These books are
targeted at people who are already using a software product, and want
to know some "power tips" to increase their knowledge and productivity.
Maybe we could think about a collaborative effort - after all there
is a lot of IDL expertise to be found in this newsgroup.
Just my $0.02 worth.
Cheers,
Liam.
