It seems that there was once a IDL-python bridge called slither. Going to the website where this was software was offered says the package is "retired." Any idea what happened to this s/w package?

Thanks

What is even more strange, IDL 7.1 seems to have introduced this bridge as a feature, but it is not there for for the most current (8.2.3):

IDL Python Bridge – IDL 7.1 enables you to incorporate Python code into your IDL
application
