Is there any updates on when 8.3 is due? From the IDL Data Point blog "In IDL 8.3, scheduled for this fall,"
The blog looks to have abondoned now, so can the IDL dev's possibly give us an update on the 8.3 progress here?
I'm also really interested to know if CRS 67311 will make it into the 8.3 release.
Thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim,
Well, we were really hoping to have it out by Cyber Monday to pick up all of those sales, but it looks like the actual date will be _around_ Dec 16. So, you can plan on picking up a few copies as stocking stuffers.
And yes, IDL-67311 (IDL restores IDL .sav files much slower than Python) is fixed. Restoring save files should now be approximately the same speed in IDL compared to Python.
Cheers,
Chris
