Very nice!

In particular the dictionary and orderedhash, which I had wanted for such a long time.

The function plotting also seems interesting.

Very python-y (well, the dictionary at least).

And the implied print: very matlab-y.

:o)

We know that there are some gotchas with implied print that'll be addressed in the next release. Can you folks find any cases we don't already know about? (Not telling what we already know... Where would the fun be in that?)

Fortunately, implied print is a command line-only feature and the unintended features won't apply to procedural code.

On an unrelated note a few of us at Exelis have been volunteered to continue on Dr. Piper's IDLDatapoint blog. Impossible shoes to fill, of course, but we'll each try to be informative and do our best to carry on his tradition in a way that would will make him proud. Look for regular updates in the coming year.

Hmm. IDL 8.3 requires Mac OS X 10.8 or later. Time to update from Lion OS. --Wayne
