Hi - I'm just playing with some color tables and issued the following command:

TVLCT, cgColor('Green', /Triple), 4

and got the following message.

% TVRD: Unable to create X windows Window is iconified and has no backing store, nothing read.

This message is annoying, but seems to have no consequence as the color is indeed loaded at the correct place in the color table (as verified by using CIndex). What's happening?

I'm running IDL 8.2.3 on a Mac under OSX 10.8.5.

Thanks.

One of the colors cgColor knows about is the "opposite" color. It
determines this color by reading the upper right hand pixel in the
window to determine the "background" color. Presumably the Mac is unable
to allow the program to "read" this pixel value when the window is
iconified. I've seen (and fixed) this problem on UNIX boxes some time
ago. Are you certain you are running the latest version of the Coyote
Library?

This is the first I have heard of this problem on a Mac.

Cheers,

David

Hi - Not certain I've got the latest version - looks like mine dates back to December 2013. I grab it again and see what happens. Thanks. Barry
