We have a recurring problem with the PV-Wave license manager
(FlexLM) on SunOS. This happened yesterday, once in January,
and once in November. I can't figure out why it doesn't happen
more often. The problem is that the file /usr/tmp/lockPVI
disappeared. After that the license manager quit working.
Shutting it down and restarting cured the problem.
I am pretty sure that the file disappeared because of these lines
in a cron job that runs daily:
cd /usr/tmp
find . ! -name . -atime +7 -exec rm -f {} \;
Thus any file more than a week old in /usr/tmp is deleted.
Why doesn't this bite us every week? The file's access and
modification times don't seem to change when PV-Wave is
used.
I think I will put in a kluge to touch the file daily.
Any better ideas?
