Hi,
just sharing some frustration.
Worked all day on some coding, most of it in one file. I save every few minutes to the HD and at the end of the day to a second location.
When I saved (ctrl-s) towards the end of the day windows went "blue-screen". Reboot. Empty file. Empty like a lot of empty lines, no text. All gone.
I would be happy to hear if the file can found in some hidden directory.
Guess not. That calls for some beer.

Cheers,
h

Win 7 64-bit
IDL 8.4

Ok, I managed to find something that resembles to at least 90% of what I did today. For those of you using windows, in this directory:

C:\Users\xxx\IDLWorkspace84\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.c ore.resources\.history\

(substitute xxx with your username)

You will find loads of sub-directories with loads of files that resemble the work you were doing :-)

I looked for the most recent one. Compared a few of them and got my file back up...

Wicket combo: click save and boom pc down. Gotta watch out with that save button. It can be dangerous.

Anyway, now I know where to fish things.

Cheers,
Helder

Frustration is now back to low level

How many beers did it take?

Cheers,

Ah, a new craft brewery opened up in town recently (the 15th or 16th,
can't remember) called Zwei Brüders. Too brothers, obviously, and they
brew German style beer. Haven't been there yet, but hear great things
about it. :-)
