hi,
this is a crazy little request, but would save me a ton of work if someone
has already done this:
I am looking for a routine that will take as input an array that
is essentially a pixmap of a plot (ie: someone scanned a plot of data
into an array) and will output an x and y array of values of the
plotted data. Presumably the pixmap will be a plot of only one dataset,
and I guess you may have to input some increment number that would define
how many points of data will be taken from the plotted data line.

pretty crazy huh! Turns out that scientist would like this so that they
can take data from a reference plot that they receive at conferences and get
them into a digital format.

If anyone has something like this or knows of an application that would do
this, let me know.
