Hi,

I have recently installed IDL 8.4 on my PC at work. I have also 8.1 version, but that is crushing every day or so (may be a seed for another thread). But, when I try to restore variable that is approx. 70 MB large, it crushes and writes

RESTORE: Error encountered reading from file. Unit: 100, File: U:something.sav
Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.

On the same PC with 8.1 restoring an 800 MB .sav file works just fine.

How do I persuade the 8.4 to restore files (variable) larger than 70 MB?

Thanks for a reply,

Alex

Hi Alex,

I would recommend contacting tech support. They might be able to take a look at your save file and see what's wrong.

Cheers,
Chris
