Does anyone know of the following:

The whereabouts of the Astromical library or routines for
dealing with FITS files in IDL?

The same for a GIF file reader/writer in IDL.

The proper byte order for sending 16 bit binary image (or other
data) from a Sun to a PC. (I believe I have the answer already on this:
i.e. using BYTEORDER,X,/SSWAP works OK).
