I'm currently solving an optimization problem using the built-in
Powell routine. I'm not entirely happy with the results I'm getting,
mainly because the minimum found seems to be overly dependent on
the initial conditions and because the routine doesn't give
any kind of error estimate. Does anyone else have any useful
insights on optimization with IDL, or have any alternative
routines that I could try?
