How we do band addition in IDL without calling the function in ENVI i.e.how to read image bands and operations on them directly in IDL.
I am a new learner and I couldn't find any good stuff related to this.Kindly suggest me some good source to learn basics with raster image on IDL.

Read data using read_tiff()...

Process data by simple band math or using more sophisticated algorithms:
