Yes, what you did is supposed to work, and if IDL really crashes then
this is a *serious* bug in IDL V5.0. Interestingly, when I go the
opposite direction (save with IDL5.0 on Sun workstation and restore with
IDL4.0 on a DEC Alpha/OSF) then I also get the 'Unexpected item code'
message, but the restore seems to work. Anybody able to test
SAVE/RESTORE between IDL5.0 Sun and IDL5.0 Alpha/OSF?
I would hope that RSI would have a bug-fix release of V5.0 in the
not-too-distant future.
