Here is how I created that button:

Windows IDLDE menu choice: macros|edit...
Menu item name: xcd
Toolbar bitmap file: C:\RSI\IDL50\resource\demo.bmp
Tooltip text: Change Directory
Status Bar Text: Change current directory

Paul,

I tried to compile the code on PV-Wave but it gives me a lot of syntax
errors as well as compilation error (I should have expected that!!).

Do you have the code that will run with PV-Wave.

The utility has been ported to OpenVMS (thanks to Jim Pendleton).
I am keeping a latest-greatest version of the code at:

ftp.netcom.com
login: anonymous
file: pub/pa/paulcs/xcd.pro

If you are interested in this code, grab yourself a copy from there.
