To All:
Having been a VI user for many years, I have discovered the joys of using
VIM / GVIM version 4.X during the last year.
The BETA version of VIM 5 has language support for most programming
languages for FORTRAN, C, C++, PASCAL, MATLAB, etc. but does not have one for
IDL. This language support is similar to the language modes of EMACS and
provides color coding of language syntax so that a user may more easily
edit software.
If anybody should develop or encounter a VIM 5 language syntax file for IDL
(idl.vim) please email me.
To find out more info about VIM 4.6 and the new VIM 5:

For those people using the standard vanilla "VI" editor, I would strongly
encourage looking into VIM 4 / VIM 5. It can be executed in the vt100 xterm
mode or an X window GUI mode (vim -g) with significant full screen editing
enhancements and many powerful VI enhancements.
Thanks in advance,
Steve Fiegles
