Look in one of the following directories I think you will find the
examples you are looking for.

IDL version 4 : ${IDL_DIR}/external/examples/sharelib
IDL version 5.1 : ${IDL_DIR}/external/sharelib
IDL version 5.2 : ${IDL_DIR}/external/call_external/Fortran.
