Liam supplies some good advice here.

I tend to work the other way around. I want my
PostScript "window" to have the same aspect ratio
as the current graphics window. I do this:

keywords = PSWindow()
Set_Plot, 'PS'
Device, _Extra=keywords

And I am ready to go.
