I am also confused by the question, since this is
*exactly* the way widgets work with no special effort
at all. (I confess I am even more confused by some of
the answers poor Michael received, but that's another
story.)

Perhaps if you clarified what you have tried and what
didn't seem to work we could be more helpful. And a
clearer definition of what an "XMANAGER window" is
would also help.
