RSI offer a licensing product to developers which allows a .SAV file to
run without time restriction
on an unlicenced idl installation. My understanding is that this means a
software vendor can distribute idl code which can then be run anywhere a
demo version of the idl package is installed.

It is not the same as producing a bound executable, but it gets around
the problem of all users being required to have licenced idl.

The drawback is that the licencing product in question is very expensive
(tens of $K) and is probably only viable for developers who have a large
market. Maybe RSI could advise you of a developer who could assist.
