I'm using Motif under CDE and OpenVMS and I change the font size/style
by using the FONT keyword to widget commands.

e.g. My_button = WIDGET_BUTTON(......,/FONT='Helvr12')
My_button = WIDGET_BUTTON(......,/FONT='Timb10')

The available fonts can be found using XFONT and selecting "Private".
