I doubt that anyone has written an IDL routine to output DXF files. IDL has
great Postscript output, and few people need scientific figures in DXF
format.
I think Postscript (PS) is a more general purpose file format, and most
people end up converting from DXF to PS and not the other way around..
However, there are programs that will convert an IDL generated PS file to DXF
format: Large packages like CorelDraw, for example, will import, convert, and
export most vector file types including PS and DXF. You may also find
shareware programs designed to convert PS to DXF.
