Would this be a Great Auntie (software) that you only see (use) on
special occasions?

I realise the use of the word endearing is tongue in cheek, but it
doesn't really invoke positive images (for me at least) when used in
reference to software. What one member of the family views as endearing,
another might interpret as doddering. Would one refer to their favourite
hammer, dovetail saw, or carpenters square as endearing if they didn't
work _quite_ as expected? I guess so, if you were a master carpenter.
Amateurs (such as myself) would more likely than not simply get a new
one whose use was intuitive and idiosyncratic free - especially if you
promised the chest of drawers would be finished soon.

:o)
