I had some SA beer at an Outback steakhouse once...blech. Mind you the
waiter there didn't believe me when I told him the thing hanging on the
wall was a didgereedoo so for all I know, they stored the beer in the
sun for a cuppla months before serving..... :o)

Wot's the outside temperature got to do with it??

Depends on what Oz beers you use for comparison. Unfortunately most of
the stuff exported from Oz, or at least what is easily available, (e.g.
Fosters....<shudder>) tastes like what is referred to in Wisconsin
as..... well, seeing as I'm in polite company I won't elaborate, but it
wasn't kind.

Before I left Oz, the beer of choice (tastes o.k. and is cheap) was
Toohey's Red although I'm sure the beer market there has been yuppified.
The Matilda Bay brewery in WA used to make good beer - maybe they still
do (one hopes). I also have fond memories of rocking up to shows with a
slab of Castlemaine XXXX on me shoulder - one of the beers that you can
be sure no-one else will nick from the bathtub.

If in doubt, sucking down a cuppla bots of Newcastle Brown ale whilst
writing your OO IDL code in front of the telly will cure what ails ya.

:o)

p.s. Apologies for the off-topic nostalgia trip. Sigh.
