I put into my program a filter to remove all tabs from the files, and replace
them with the appropriate number of spaces, before displaying them in the IDL
text widget. This reduced my problem considerably, but didn't make it go away
entirely. The problem now seems to be that the IDL text widget uses
proportional spacing, so things still don't line up as they do when I'm
editting the files to be displayed.
