It says
"up runs 'previous-line'
'previous-line' is an interactive compiled Lisp function

Is this how it should be ?

OK, I've found the problem. It is not related to idlwave. I'm running CDE
on HP-UX and it appears that if I launch something from the deskop (like
XEmacs), it does not run in my own environment. So it has no access to my
environment variables. Can you believe this ? It took me quite long to
find out.
