I have seen an alpha version of IDL for Windows, and it looked pretty good. It
made a lot of difference which computer it was running on. It was a lot faster
on a 486 than on a 386. My understanding was that this was largely because the
386 did not have a math co-processor. I don't know what the marketing
situation is.
