Calling LAPACK from IDL [message #26699]

Does anyone have an example of how to call a LAPACK routine from IDL?
(Yes, I'm looking at the CALL_EXTERNAL examples while waiting for our
sysadmin to install LAPACK.) Preferred platforms are Alpha Unix and
IRIX, in that order. LAPACK uses string arguments, so a sample wrapper
routine (in Fortran, please, if needed) would be very helpful.
