I mention this so as to point out that it is a laptop (though I forgot
to write the word laptop). This is partly the reason I suspect that it is
too hot.
However, I did run the laptop in "battery mode" which uses less CPU
power, and hence less heat, and I still get the IDL crash. The fan still
comes on as well, so it may still be a heat problem.
