Ah yes, good suggestion re: RAM. We did put in our own ram bought from
crucial.com.

I have put the laptop in permanent battery mode, so the cpu runs
a little slower, and cooler. I'll know later today if that makes a
difference.
If it is still crashing, I'll start swapping out the ram.

Also, I have had a crash of taskmanager this morning, indicating that it is
perhaps
not a idl specific problem (although IDl was running at the time).

I'll post later to say what seems to be the problem when i get a more
definitive
answer.
