You should look into working for a corporation where you don't have to feel
guilty about spending time futzing around with stuff. Of course you would
have your regular work to do. Well that is if your regular work doesn't take
up all your time. The news group counts as futzing? Getting paid to work on
whatever sounds interesting is the ideal.

If our society was setup where everyone got what they wanted and could do
whatever they wanted then we wouldn't need money! A truly republic democracy
or a monarchy democractic political system could then be formed where
government interests couldn't be "bought".

The corporation would still exists as a means to run things, but the social
classes that exists today in the industrialized nations as a result of
capitalism would disappear. The person could then choose what they want to
do and be rewarded based on what they choose to do for that year.

This is of course assuming that we could somehow transfer skill sets
required to the different jobs. Who knows how that would be accomplished,
but if it is possible it would lead to better social system which promoted
something closer to equality.
