I would guess so that you can do then

Global_obj = obj_valid(1, /cast)

and get it from anywhere. I wrote a more general hack to access any heap
variable this way.
The drawback is, if you ever use IDL_clear or IDL_reset, dangling heap
variable will be destroyed.
