You can keep using the old computer. You'll only have IDL in demo mode on it though. :o)

As to transferring the license but keeping the old license key on the other machine, well.....
why would you do that? It's just not cricket.

p.s. FWIW, whenever I've worked at universities where researchers purchase their own licenses
(not through a software purchasing dept. that doles out the license keys or installation IDs),
there were semi-regular, uh, "sweeps" of computers to make sure that everything installed on
them was kosher.
